Today's ATL was Critical Thinking - Analyzing and evaluating issues and ideas. Students will use models and simulations to explore complex systems and issues. Students will explore different examples of the criteria for what determines if something is alive. Today we began with the engage and explore phase of the learning cycle. Students moved around to different stations and recorded their observations using the attached lab sheets. Tomorrow we will discuss students' observations and begin to explain the characteristics that all living things share.

Study Skills: Read over your observations from the lab, and begin to think of an answer to the key question "What determines if something is alive or not?" Make sure your answer is supported by evidence from your lab observations. If you did not complete last week's study skill of previewing the chapter, please do so tonight, and make sure you have finished your unit cover and written your statement and questions of inquiry.
