How to Succeed in Science (and school in general):
1. Actively Participate in Class. Science is more about doing than memorizing. We will be doing many hands-on activities and having class discussions often. In order to be successful, you must fully engage your mind in the activity at hand. 2. Turn in assignments on time after rereading and checking them over. Students should listen carefully to the assignment directions and follow them closely, rereading them if written directions are available. 3. Review vocabulary words and class notes for at least fifteen minutes each night. 4. Take advantage of the “Study Skills” assignments posted to the class blog. The activities posted under study skills will help to reinforce the daily class objectives. I will post videos, interactives, and practice activities nearly every night. 5. Ask Questions! There is no such thing as a bad question, especially in science! Ask the students in your group, other classmates and your teacher when you need help or clarification with something. 6. Arrange for Tutoring, if Necessary. As the quarter progresses, I will help students find resources for after or before school tutoring if the need arises. But most of all… Attend school daily. Work hard. Be on time. Follow directions. Pay attention to what you are doing. Use class time wisely. Keep your notebook organized. Stick with it. Respect others. Take responsibility for yourself. Work hard and care about the quality of that work. Your success is directly related to your effort. Let’s have a great year! |
